The Estate has been producing wine and Olive oil for many generations but since Marco Ricasoli-Firidolfi took over the running of the property in the mid 90`s it has transformed from also ran to leader of the pack. With each new vintage Rocca di Montegrossi is producing wines that demand attention. All the red wines fermented in Allier vats and are matured in a combination of Allier vats or barriques for about 12-18 months (depending on the wine) and are bottled without filtration. These balancedintense wines show excellent structure with lovely refined overtones very classy. They are traditional Chiantis with a touch of modernity.Chianti Classico 2006An excellent Chianti Classico showing what modern winemaking can achieve when used in conjunction with traditional sensibilities.
