Quality Wine - Organic Languedoc
Wine Cuvee Ines Rouge and Cuvee Ines Blanc Moulin des Nonnes Brothers Henri and Louis Andrieu’s family have owned this 110 hectare property east of Carcasonne for four generations and there is a real sense of continuity combined with a desire to maintain and improve the family inheritance. Louis speaks of “le beau métier du vigneron” as if it is his duty to make the best wines he possibly can and achieves this through a combination of very low yields (down to 35 hl/ha – amazing for this part of France) organic grapes and partial barrique ageing. The Andrieus are very much at the forefront of the new wave of winemakers in the Languedoc. As for the name Le Moulin des Nonnes is the old mill which still stands in the middle of the vineyards once used by the Clarisses (Poor Clare) sisters of the former convent to grow grain. We prefer the modern crop here!Cuvee Ines Rouge 2004The delicious Rouge is two-thirds Syrah plus Mourvèdre and is quite rich ripe and full of dark berry fruit. It has lovely texture thanks to a year in French oakCuvee Ines Blanc 2006The Moulin des Nonnes Blanc is a blend of 50% Roussanne and 40% Grenache Blanc with 10% Muscat Blanc-à-Petits-Grains with aproportion of each variety vinified separately in oak. The result is a pear and pineapple-scented harmonious and aromatic white ofreal quality with a touch of ginger and honey on the dry finish. Store Price£34.99 Visit Store
