Peter Lehmann - Wigan Rielsing 2003 75cl Bottle
White Wine Pale lemon in colour with vibrant green tints. This trophy and multiple gold medal winner has the classical Eden Valley lime bouquet with the first hints of complex bottle development. The palate is taut and racy; its superb flinty minerality sliced through by the backbone of fresh lime juice and a touch of honey. Eden Valley Riesling at its finest. A perfect aperitif. Also a superb accompaniment to oysters, shellfish, and grilled white fish. Named the Wigan, after PLW's Chief Winemaker Andrew Wigan, who has been the maker of every Riesling bottled under the Peter Lehmann label since the beginning, the Wigan Riesling is a testament to his success with Riesling within Australia and on the International Wine Show circuits. A good white wine vintage in the Barossa, 2003 produced good, earlier maturing styles from low yielding Eden Valley Riesling vineyards. The grapes were picked early & fermented cold in stainless steel tanks. Following a 2 week fermentation period, the wine was clarified and bottled immediately before being cellared at the winery.
