2007 Unwooded Chardonnay, Seidelberg Estate
White Wine Seidelberg Seidelberg, established in 1680 on the southern slopes of the Paarlberg mountain, was originally known as 'De Leuwen Jagt' ('the lion hunt') but in these conservationist times the current owner, German émigré Roland Seidel thought it sensible to re-christen the place. The estate's rust-hued soils produce rich, rumbustious reds; there's uncommon restraint here in this fine, pure, uncluttered and unwooded Chardonnay, with its ripe, melony fruit and fresh citrus twist.
