In 1994 he sagely drafted in top Australian consultant David Baverstock who forged a cast-iron plan for realising the potential of Crasto's centuries-old vineyards. Crasto's 90-year-old Maria Teresa vineyard is a veritable museum piece, planted to over 30 varieties.
